GLA > ATL

We're excited to announce that our brand / motion designer Kieran McMaster is making the short hop across the pond from sunny Glasgow to even sunnier Athens, Georgia in the US. He'll be continuing to work with us here on a variety of projects both in the UK and the US and is keen to meet some local likeminded creatives, studios and potential collaborators in Athens or the wider Georgia area to get a grasp on the local design scene and further introduce what we do as a studio. If you are in the area and keen to grab a coffee or something stronger he'll be available from Tues 4th June. He's also planning a trip to Atlanta to catchup with some existing clients so if you are in the area and fancy meeting up he'd be delighted to catchup. You can drop him a line directly on kieran@freytaganderson.com

SEC Wayfinding System

We knew the chance to update the SEC brand, a Glasgow institution that was in the public domain for 20 years, was a huge opportunity. The iconic sign on the side of the halls was always a key element of the then SECC brand. We’re proud to see the new SEC letters adorning and illuminating this world class events campus. More on the comprehensive wayfinding package we designed with partners EVM soon.

COCO  – The Art of Chocolate

Edinburgh-based COCO is very good at making chocolate. But they needed a clear brand position: their own unique space in a competitive industry.

Initially, COCO was using striking geometric stock designs to wrap its chocolate bars. We felt that the relationship between art and chocolate could be built upon as a real point of difference at the heart of the brand. From this idea we developed the brand line ‘The Art of Chocolate’. We have completed a full brand re-position, packaging range, e-commerce site and variety of POS / promotional materials for COCO and are working on some amazing new projects with them. Much more to come soon. See the full project.

Clydebank Community Sports Hub

We were approached by Marc Kilkenny Architects (MKA) to develop a community engagement concept for the Clydebank Community Sports Hub building re-development. We agreed a working approach of dividing the panels into a grid of individual 'tiles' and each 'tile' being divided into a geometric grid for design. Each 'tile' was then to be decorated by children from Whitecrook Primary and Glasgow Gaelic School using a selection of bespoke created building block inspired shapes around the theme of sport and or Clydebank itself. The finished photographed designs created by the children were then be recreated as artwork and combined to create 4 scale format artworks featuring 90 unique 'tile' designs. The finalised concrete panels were formed in a white concrete and granite mix and transported to site and installed on the facade of the new sports hub which opened to the public in December 2018. Full project coming soon.

BURGER: Our name says it all!

A no-nonsense identity for a no-nonsense brand: a bold and simple approach lets BURGER’S name say it all. Leading unapologetically with ‘BURGER’ created a sense of ownership over the word in a competitive space. With origins in woodblock printing, the Block Gothic font had the right overtones of craft and robustness. A simple word-mark can condense to a ‘bun’ in its simplest form, and expand horizontally or vertically to let the name do the talking. See teh full project here.

Up Front Brewing AR Packaging

Our new work for Glasgow based Craft Beer Brewery Up Front has recently been awarded Best Packaging and the Chairmans Award for Design at the 2018 Scottish Design Awards. We used the incredible artwork of artist Stanley Donwood to wrap the cans in a story of stormy seas and Moby Dick. The striking cans have also been brought to life in Augmented Reality with our partners Render Studio. The app is available for iOS and Android now. See the full project here.
